What is Crosstalk?
Crosstalk is a group chat app for friends. You make a room, style it with a theme, and send messages that carry text, voice and video at the same time. Your friends can read a message, listen to it, or watch it, whichever suits where they are. It is free on iPhone and Android.
Is Crosstalk the same app as Shorty?
Yes. Shorty became Crosstalk in 2026. Same app, same company, same account, and shorty.now redirects here. If you had the app as Shorty, it is already Crosstalk on your phone.
Can my friends hear messages I typed, in my own voice?
Yes. Record a short sample once, and messages you type afterward are read out in a voice that sounds like you. If you would rather not, there are preset voices instead.
How is Crosstalk different from Snapchat or Locket?
Those are built around a camera, so you have to be somewhere you can film. In Crosstalk every message carries words, voice and video together, so you can type on a bus and your friend can listen in the car. And the room is yours to style. Backgrounds, text styles and voices, set for the whole room or for one message.
Is Crosstalk free?
Yes, and there is no cap on how many messages you send. Coins and a Plus tier exist for extras, but nothing you need is behind them.
Does Crosstalk work on Android?
Yes, on iPhone and Android both. There is a browser version for opening a link a friend sent you.
Is Crosstalk safe for teenagers?
